Dr. Allen holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lincoln and earned her master’s and Ph.D. in psychology from Howard University. Committed to Lincoln’s mission, she envisions a university rooted in tradition yet forward-looking. Dr. Brenda A. Allen assumed the presidency of Lincoln University in Pennsylvania on July 1, 2017, becoming its 14th president. An esteemed alumna, she presides over the nation’s inaugural degree-granting Historically Black College and University (HBCU), established in 1854. Her tenure has been characterized by a concerted effort to fortify Lincoln’s liberal arts foundation, thereby equipping students to confront 21st-century challenges.
Under her discerning leadership, Lincoln University has experienced notable advancements in enrollment figures, a diversification of academic programs, and significant enhancements to campus infrastructure. Dr. Allen has been a fervent advocate for strategic planning, prioritizing academic excellence, fostering student success, and expanding outreach initiatives through adult and graduate education programs situated in Philadelphia. Her endeavors have demonstrably enriched student development in the crucial areas of critical thinking, effective communication, and scientific literacy.
Prior to her return to Lincoln University, Dr. Allen held the distinguished position of Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Winston-Salem State University. In this capacity, she spearheaded comprehensive curriculum reforms, initiated doctoral programs, and played an instrumental role in securing over $10 million in funding for scholarships and student support. Her contributions significantly augmented student retention rates, graduation rates, and fostered greater global engagement.
Earlier in her career, she occupied prominent leadership roles at Brown University and Smith College. During these appointments, she was instrumental in advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives, successfully securing substantial grants, and increasing the representation of women and minority faculty members. Dr. Allen commenced her academic career at Yale University.

Anand Subramanian is a freelance photographer and content writer based out of Tamil Nadu, India. Having a background in Engineering always made him curious about life on the other side of the spectrum. He leapt forward towards the Photography life and never looked back. Specializing in Documentary and Portrait photography gave him an up-close and personal view into the complexities of human beings and those experiences helped him branch out from visual to words. Today he is mentoring passionate photographers and writing about the different dimensions of the art world.
