Counting down to the 2025 Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles must unleash a maelstrom of defensive and offensive firepower as they play the Washington Commanders on Sunday, December 22nd. Riding a 10-game winning streak and building momentum this season, the Eagles are strong contenders for the NFC title as they march toward the playoffs. With only three season games before the Super Bowl on February 9, 2025, the Eagles are poised to reclaim the NFL victory title since 2018, when they defeated the New England Patriots. In the upcoming playoffs, will the Eagles beat the Washington Commanders and maintain a stout offense against the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants?

After defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-13 in a matchup on December 15th, 2024, quarterback Jalen Hurts’s electrifying offense led the Eagles to clinch three touchdowns. The Eagles’ potent offense, led by Jalen Hurts, and their solid defense strategy, which includes a dominant pass rush and adequate man-to-man coverage, give them an edge over the Commanders. Over the past five games, the Commanders have also enhanced their defense strategy. Jayden Daniels’ ability to pass and run has added a new dimension to the Commanders’ offense strategy by posing a dual-threat quarterback. Though the Commanders may be poised to contain the Eagles, the Eagles have also established a strong running game with play-action passing.

The Eagles must maintain their defense, which improved significantly from 30th place in 2023 to fifth place this season. To defeat the Washington Commanders, the Eagles must control the clock and likely rely on Saquon Barkley and A.J. Brown to establish the run and wear down the Commanders’ defense. In response, the Commanders may block Barkley and Brown’s rushing yards and counter any big runs. The Eagles’ stout defense will undoubtedly give them counter-defense leverage.

As the Eagles contend the Commanders on Sunday, they must gear up to conquer the Dallas Cowboys’ aggressive offense led by Dak Prescott. Even if Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis maintain a counter-defense, the Eagles may struggle to contain Prescott’s deep passes. If the Eagles defeat the Dallas Cowboys on December 29, 2024, and head on to face off against the New York Giants, they will be one step closer to clinching another Super Bowl victory.
