    Uganda Bell Lager

    Description

    Bell Lager is a popular Ugandan beer known for its crisp and refreshing taste. It holds cultural significance as a beverage enjoyed during social gatherings and celebrations, reflecting the communal spirit of Ugandan culture.

    Ingredients

    • Water – 100 liters
    • Barley malt – 20 kg
    • Maize – 10 kg
    • Hops – 500 grams
    • Yeast – 200 grams
    • Sugar – 5 kg

    Instructions

    1. Begin by mashing the barley malt and maize in hot water to create a mash. Allow it to sit for about 1 hour.
    2. After mashing, drain the liquid (wort) into a large kettle.
    3. Bring the wort to a boil and add hops. Boil for about 1 hour.
    4. After boiling, cool the wort quickly to around 20°C (68°F).
    5. Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel and add yeast.
    6. Seal the vessel and let it ferment for about 1-2 weeks at a controlled temperature.
    7. Once fermentation is complete, bottle the beer, adding a small amount of sugar to each bottle to carbonate.
    8. Allow the bottles to condition for another week before serving.
