    • Salt to taste
    • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro (optional)
    • Chutney (optional, for serving)

    Instructions

    1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, turmeric, and salt. Gradually add water and knead to form a soft dough. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
    2. In a pot, heat oil and sauté onions, garlic, ginger, and green chilies until fragrant.
    3. Add cooked chickpeas, curry powder, cumin, and salt. Stir well and cook for about 10 minutes, adding a little water if necessary.
    4. Divide the dough into small balls and roll each into a flat disc.
    5. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the discs until golden brown on both sides.
    6. To assemble, place a generous spoonful of the chickpea mixture between two bara and serve with chutney if desired.
