- 1 bay leaf
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper, sautéing until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned.
- Drain excess fat if necessary, then stir in the crushed tomatoes, olives, raisins, capers, cumin, oregano, black pepper, salt, and bay leaf.
- If using, pour in the white wine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the bay leaf before serving. Serve hot with rice or fried plantains.
