    Description

    Ingredients

    • 2 tablespoons ground cumin
    • 2 tablespoons ground coriander
    • 2 tablespoons ground ginger
    • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
    • 1 tablespoon ground turmeric
    • 1 tablespoon ground allspice
    • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
    • 1 tablespoon ground cardamom
    • 1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
    • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
    • 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
    • 1 teaspoon dried rose petals (optional)

    Instructions

    1. In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the cumin, coriander, ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, allspice, black pepper, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves, and cayenne pepper for about 3-5 minutes until fragrant.
    2. Stir continuously to prevent burning.
    3. Remove from heat and let cool.
    4. Once cooled, combine all the toasted spices in a spice grinder or mortar and pestle.
    5. Grind until you achieve a fine powder.
    6. If using, add the dried rose petals and grind them together with the spices.
    7. Store the Ras el Hanout in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.
