Ingredients
- 500g dried mopane worms
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup water
- Fresh coriander for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the dried mopane worms under cold water to remove any impurities.
- Soak the worms in warm water for about 30 minutes to rehydrate them. Drain and set aside.
- In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the rehydrated mopane worms to the pan, followed by paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Pour in the water and bring to a simmer.
- Cover and cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the worms are tender and the flavors meld.
- Garnish with fresh coriander if desired and serve hot.
