Ingredients
- 2 cups of malted barley
- 1 cup of corn
- 1/2 cup of hops
- 1 packet of brewer’s yeast
- 4 cups of water
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of corn syrup
Instructions
- Begin by mashing the malted barley and corn in a large pot with 4 cups of water over medium heat. Stir continuously for about 30 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before straining the liquid into a fermentation vessel, discarding the solids.
- Add the hops to the strained liquid and bring it to a boil for 15 minutes.
- Remove from heat again and let it cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, add the sugar and corn syrup, stirring until dissolved.
- Sprinkle the brewer’s yeast over the mixture and cover the vessel with a clean cloth. Allow it to ferment in a dark, warm place for about 5-7 days.
- After fermentation, bottle the beer, leaving some space at the top of each bottle. Seal tightly and let it carbonate for another week in a cool place.
- Chill the bottles before serving and enjoy your homemade Kalik Beer responsibly.
