Description

Ingredients
- 2 cups of rice
- 4 cups of water
- 1 cup of grated coconut
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup of milk (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Soak the rice in water for about 8 hours or overnight to allow it to ferment slightly.
- Drain the rice and place it in a pot with 4 cups of fresh water. Cook over medium heat until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed, about 20 minutes.
- Once cooked, remove the rice from heat and let it cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, grated coconut, sugar, salt, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- If desired, add milk to achieve a creamier texture.
- Serve the Chakery chilled or at room temperature, garnished with additional grated coconut if desired.
