Description

Ingredients
- 2 green plantains
- Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions
- Peel the green plantains by cutting off the ends and making a lengthwise slit in the skin. Remove the skin carefully.
- Cut the plantains into 1-inch thick slices.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the plantain slices for about 3-4 minutes until they are lightly golden.
- Remove the plantains from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Using a flat surface, press each slice down gently to flatten them.
- Return the flattened plantains to the hot oil and fry again for another 2-3 minutes until they are crispy and golden brown.
- Remove from oil, drain on paper towels, and sprinkle with salt.
- For the optional dipping sauce, mix minced garlic, mayonnaise, and lime juice together in a bowl. Serve the tostones hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
