Among our most important beliefs are those we hold about who we are, our values and what we can achieve. This is usually a challenging lifetime journey to find clarity of Self and then to follow through with continuity in our actions. The cultures or “roadmaps” in which we are raised and the cultures we find ourselves living in as children and adults have tremendous influences on our identity, often unconsciously.
By now you have no doubt heard the news that Pope Francis will make his first ever U.S. visit to Philadelphia during the 8th Annual World Co…
Just when you think it is impossible for minority entrepreneurs to start a lucrative business after being rejected by some local banks, then comes Philadelphia’s Andre Andrews with his water ice and ice cream business determined to carve a niche into the cold treat industry.
The Internet is now the 21st Century vehicle for learning reducing the need to physically go to a classroom. In the previous career of this writer, my employer was the Learning Department for the U.S. Division of Deloitte Touche Tomatsu. In 2004, we had 16,000 users connected to the system. June ushers in one of my favorite holidays. Not only is June 21st Father’s Day this year, it is also the first day of summer. Father’s Day honors the important men in our lives. During my career as a medical doctor and personal trainer, and in life itself, I have found that where there is a healthy father there is a healthy family. The father is at the helm and in his absence the family operates at less than full strength. Many men recognize this and are taking better care of themselves so they will be around to take care of their families.
Where does our food come from? Who (or what) grows it? What additives and processes are used, i.e. GMOs, hormones, preservatives, pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics? What is life like for the growers and gatherers and processors of our food? How far does the food travel to get to our plate? Is what we eat really food? How much of our food is fresh and locally grown vs. processed, canned and shipped 1200 miles?
