The Office for People with Disabilities (OPD) houses the Mayor’s Commission on People with Disabilities and the Office of ADA Compliance. It advocates for policies, programs, and systemic changes that maximize independence and community integration for Philadelphians with disabilities.

The City of Philadelphia works with community-based organizations to provide adult education for residents who are 16 and older.  The program aims at working with the community partners to provide adult learners with access to education as well as digital skills and job-readiness training, and a These vital services help residents build the skills they need to realize their personal, professional, and civic goals. The Mayor’s Office of Education oversees the City’s planning and investments in this programming.

Classes include:

  • Reading, writing, and math.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • High school equivalency preparation, including GED and HiSET preparation.
  • English for speakers of other languages (ESOL).
