Launching the 2024 Tax Season: CWF’s Strategic Media Engagement

In January 2024, Campaign for Working Families (CWF) celebrated the start of the tax season and the opening of our new office in Philadelphia’s Fairmount area, capturing the attention of key media outlets like FunTimes Magazine, WHYY public radio, and 6abc TV, reaching nearly 3 million viewers and listeners.

Our media strategy, a blend of earned media and paid advertising across diverse channels has been crucial in increasing awareness of CWF’s services since January. This campaign underscores our commitment to simplifying the tax process for working families and ensuring they receive the financial support they deserve.

Highlighting the importance of “Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day” on January 26, 2024, we aimed to educate residents about available tax credits, addressing the issue of over $100 million in unclaimed funds. This initiative underscores the significance of our efforts to engage the community and encourage volunteerism.

Our new 6,600-square-foot headquarters in Brewerytown expands our capacity to offer free tax preparation, family stability programming, and public benefits support. This move aligns with our mission to support low- and moderate-income communities more effectively.

Coverage by WHYY and other media partners has been crucial in highlighting our free tax services and the goal to assist 40,000 residents this tax season. This marks an increase in our efforts to ensure more individuals benefit from our services and avoid costly for-profit tax preparers.

CWF’s media engagement for the 2024 tax season has successfully raised awareness about critical tax credits and free tax preparation services. Our strategic approach to media collaboration has fostered community engagement, supporting our mission to empower working families.

As we progress, partnering with media outlets remains essential in promoting CWF services and uniting the community to support working families. CWF is dedicated to significantly impacting the lives of those we serve, reinforcing our commitment to equity and opportunity.
