Mark your calendars for the 2026 She Shines Conference in Mt. Airy hosted by Robin Maddox’s grassroots nonprofit. It’s one of Philadelphia’s premier annual gatherings that effectively engages women who are underrepresented in healthcare, education, business and in many walks of life. Part of the event focuses on wellness including breast cancer education. The irrepressible Maddox’s successful battle with breast cancer (she is now in remission) in 2018-19 inspired the flourishing She Shines Conference.

A timely lead-up to the event this month centers on building awareness during October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Currently, she serves on the board of the PA Breast Cancer Coalition, a group of cancer survivors whose mission is to provide programs and resources to help find a cure for breast cancer. The She Shines Conference will even provide free mammogram screenings.

In addition to health, healing, and welllness, She Shines will feature workshops and activities about spirituality, education, safety, civic engagement, networking opportunities, a continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, and resource fair.

Event participants will enjoy lively interacive, and engaging workshop discussions facilitated by leading national and locally-acclaimed speakers such as: Sita Lewis (Moma Sita), CEO, curator, maker of Mama Sita’s Miracle Butter Cream Skin Care products, and a veteran TV producer and culinary instructor; broadcaster and publisher Rosalyn Daniels, an award-winnng CEO & Founder of Black Health Matters, and Medical Field Director Ashley J. Swain and Jackie Smith Sullivan — a mother and daughter duo who were featured in ABC’s documentary, “American Story: The Hands That Built the White House,” featuring their ancestor Calvert Ambush, an enslaved man who helped construct the White House in the Unied States.

The conference will be Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 9 a.m. EST to 5 p.m. EST, at New Covenant Church of Philadelphia, 7500 Germantown Ave. in Mt. Airy. The theme is “She Still Matters!” – which is just about how Maddox approaches life, with inclusion and passion.

As a 64-year-old breast cancer survivor, this impassioned warrior knows that the road she travels is more about purpose than poetry: “If you are looking to be heard and seen personally and professionally, then the She Shines Conference is the safe and welcoming place for you,” Maddox says.
