The African American Museum in Philadelphia is calling on all young artists to flex their artistic muscles and earn some cash by creating a poster that shows how they embody the spirit of an “Everyday Freedom Hero.” Are heroes born through your acts of kindness, leadership, or by resolving conflicts? Prizes include $500 for Best of Show, and cash awards for first place ($300), second ($200), and third place ($100).
Artwork will be judged on its creativity, historical interpretation, and positive action. The juried art competition will take place June 13, from 3 p.m. EST to 5 p.m. EST. No entry fee; the deadline is June 10, 2026, by 11:59 p.m. EST. Submissions are free and can be delivered in person to the museum (open Saturdays and Sundays through June 7, from 10 a.m. EST to 5 p.m. EST), or by email to Loren Landrum: llandrum@aampmuseum.org. Include a registration form and a signed release from a parent or guardian. African American Museum in Philadelphia / Jack T. Franklin Auditorium, 701 Arch St. 215-574-0380 or aampmuseum.org.
