Being a year without a presidential election, the 2025 Philadelphia Primary Election will be held on May 20 in preparation for the main election which is slated for November 4. With this announcement comes the opportunity for you to make your voice heard by exercising your voting rights.
Events that precede the primary elections kick off as early as the 18th of February, 2025. This gives everyone ample time to get familiar with the election details, dates and requirements, and to make up their minds about the best candidate for the various offices.
Date And Events Leading Up To The Primary Elections
Tuesday, February 18th:
First day to circulate and file nomination petitions.
Tuesday, March 11th:
Last day to circulate and file nomination petitions.
Wednesday, March 12th:
First day to circulate and file nomination papers.
Tuesday, March 18th:
Last day to file objections to nomination petitions.
Wednesday, March 26th:
Last day for withdrawal by candidates who filed nomination petitions.
Monday, May 5th:
Last day to REGISTER before the primary.
Tuesday, May 13th:
Last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot.
Tuesday, May 20th:
- Last day for the County Election Office to receive completed mail-in and civilian absentee ballots (must be received by 8 P.M.)
- PRIMARY ELECTION
Polls are open on election day, from 7 A.M. to 8 P.M.
