A great entertainment choice is On the Table: Still Lifes Now, a new, innovative fine-art print exhibition at Brandywine Workshop and Archives in Philadelphia. The exhibit features several internationally acclaimed Black artists, including Barkley Hendricks, Mary Lovelace O’Neal, and Keith Morrison. Still Lifes Now reimagines the still life as a contemporary form, examining identity, memory, labor, and power through printmaking.
Through printmaking, the artists transform everyday objects, illustrating how still-life art can connect to social histories, personal narratives, and shifting politics. The promotional material notes: Enjoy the works of American portrait artist Barkley Hendricks, a trailblazing printmaker, Robert Blackburn, Mary Lovelace O’Neal, a leading Bay Area painter and printmaker, and Jamaican painter and printmaker Keith Morrison.
