    • 2 cups semolina
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

    • 1/4 cup orange blossom water

    Instructions

    1. In a large bowl, mix the semolina, flour, and salt. Gradually add the melted butter and mix until crumbly.
    2. Slowly add water, kneading until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
    3. In another bowl, combine the chopped dates, walnuts, cinnamon, and orange blossom water to make the filling.
    4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
    5. Divide the dough into two equal parts. Roll out one part into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
    6. Spread the filling evenly over the dough, then roll it up tightly.
    7. Cut the rolled dough into pieces about 2 inches long.
    8. Place the pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
    10. In a small saucepan, heat the honey until warm.
    11. Once the Makroud is baked, dip each piece in the warm honey and then roll in sesame seeds if using.
    12. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
