Description

Ingredients
- 500g malted barley
- 50g hops
- 1 packet of lager yeast
- 10 liters of water
- 1 teaspoon of sugar (for priming)
Instructions
- Start by sanitizing all brewing equipment to ensure cleanliness.
- In a large pot, heat 10 liters of water to about 70°C (158°F).
- Add the malted barley to the hot water and let it steep for about 60 minutes, maintaining the temperature.
- After steeping, remove the grains and bring the liquid (wort) to a boil.
- Add the hops to the boiling wort and boil for an additional 60 minutes.
- After boiling, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath.
- Once cooled, transfer the wort to a fermentation vessel and add the lager yeast.
- Seal the vessel with an airlock and let it ferment for about 2 weeks at a temperature of around 10-12°C (50-54°F).
- After fermentation, add a teaspoon of sugar to the beer for carbonation and bottle it.
- Let the bottles condition for another 2 weeks before enjoying your homemade Windhoek Lager.
