    Ingredients

    • 1 kg of fish (or chicken, goat, or beef)
    • 2 liters of water
    • 2 tablespoons of ground pepper (preferably African pepper or chili)
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon of ginger, minced
    • 2 tablespoons of ground crayfish
    • 1 tablespoon of ground nutmeg
    • 2-3 sprigs of fresh thyme
    • Salt to taste
    • Optional: sliced vegetables (like carrots or bell peppers)

    Instructions

    1. Clean and cut the fish (or meat) into pieces. Rinse and set aside.
    2. In a large pot, bring the water to a boil.
    3. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger to the boiling water.
    4. Stir in the ground pepper, crayfish, nutmeg, and thyme.
    5. Add the fish (or meat) to the pot and reduce the heat to medium.
    6. Allow to simmer for about 20-30 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through (or meat is tender).
    7. Season with salt to taste.
    8. If using, add sliced vegetables in the last 5 minutes of cooking.
    9. Serve hot, often accompanied by rice or fufu.
