    Description

Poisson Braisé is a traditional Ivorian grilled fish dish, often marinated with a blend of spices and served with a spicy sauce. It holds cultural significance as a popular street food and is commonly enjoyed during gatherings and celebrations.

    Ingredients

    • 1 whole fish (such as tilapia or snapper, cleaned and scaled)
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 1 onion, finely chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
    • 1-2 fresh chili peppers, chopped (adjust to taste)
    • 1 teaspoon ground paprika
    • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • Juice of 1 lemon
    • Fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish
    • Lemon wedges for serving

    Instructions

    1. Clean and scale the fish, then make diagonal cuts on both sides to allow the marinade to penetrate.
    2. In a bowl, mix the vegetable oil, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped chili peppers, paprika, black pepper, salt, and lemon juice to create the marinade.
    3. Rub the marinade generously over the fish, ensuring it gets into the cuts. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
    4. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
    5. Place the marinated fish on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and has a nice char.
    6. Remove from the grill and garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro. Serve with lemon wedges and your choice of side dishes.
