Description

Ingredients
- 500g all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 500ml warm water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon orange blossom water
- Oil for frying
- 300g sugar (for syrup)
- 200ml water (for syrup)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (for syrup)
- 1 teaspoon rose water (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add warm water and sugar, stirring until a smooth batter forms.
- Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rest for about 1 hour, until it doubles in size.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and lemon juice to make the syrup. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Add rose water if desired and set aside to cool.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Using a piping bag or a squeeze bottle, pipe the batter into the hot oil in spiral shapes. Fry until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove from oil and immediately dip in the cooled syrup.
- Let excess syrup drip off before serving.
