When families struggle, communities feel the strain. Children forced to move due to housing instability may leave behind classrooms where teachers knew their learning styles. Parents juggling multiple jobs may have less time to engage in community events. Families under stress may lose touch with neighbors, weakening the ties that keep neighborhoods connected.
This is why stability is a community issue.
CWF’s Rise and Shine program was built on the belief that when families thrive, so does the community around them. By providing support in housing, financial empowerment, and education, Rise and Shine helps families strengthen their foundations. And when families have strong foundations, neighborhoods can flourish.
Consider the impact of just one family avoiding eviction. The children stay in their school district, teachers do not need to adjust to sudden student turnover, and friendships between classmates remain intact. That stability builds stronger classrooms. At the same time, the parents are able to focus on employment and financial literacy, which strengthens their household economy. And when enough families in a neighborhood experience this kind of stability, the whole community begins to feel safer, more resilient, and more connected.
Rise and Shine is about recognizing that each family is part of something bigger. By working together with community partners, the program doesn’t just improve lives, it uplifts entire neighborhoods. Because when one family rises, we all do.
