Goodison Park, Liverpool— The FA Cup third round officially kicked off on Thursday, 9th January 2024, with Everton v Peterborough United, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Blues. The win marked a significant moment for Everton after suffering five consecutive losses in the Premier League.
Many of the Evertonians have attributed this victory to the decision of the club to lay off their head coach only four hours before the start of the game. Praises have in turn been directed to Leighton Baines and Séamus Coleman after the management appointed them jointly to coach the team to victory and they delivered. While Leighton combined his experience as head coach of the Under-18 team with Coleman’s competence as team captain to defeat Peterborough United, the fans did not withhold due accolades to Noberto Gomes and Iliam Ndiaye for scoring the goals that secured the game.

Liverpool, England— Liverpool fans came into Antfield enduring the bitter cold on Saturday afternoon, 11th January 2025 but left the stadium with warmth in their hearts as the team reverberated their dominance this football season.
There is no doubt that Accrington put up a good game as it was difficult for Liverpool to get through at the start. However, 45 minutes into kick-offs, the Reds were leading two goals to zero with Trent Alexander-Arnold reminding everyone that his form might be in dispute, but his skills were not up for debate when he scored the second goal of the first half.
In the second half, the League Two team upped their game and narrowly missed two shots on target. Despite the best efforts by their defender and striker, Donald Love and Josh Woods, Liverpool yet dominated the game with another two goals, both of which can be tied to Federico Chiesa’s top performance. The summer 2024 signed left-winger, came in as a substitute in the second half but left a man of honor. His attempt to score the third goal led the ball to Liverpool’s forward, Jayden Danns who secured it in the net. At the 90th minute and the end of the game, Chiesa seized another opportunity before him and made it count.
With this win, Liverpool now advances to round four of the FA Cup.

London, England— The defending champions had a tough time dealing with Arsenal at the Emirate stadium following a 1-1 tie in the full 90 minutes of play and the extra time.
Manchester United narrowly escaped after the game went into the penalty shootout; sealing their spot in the next round with a 3-5 win. Noise erupted around the stadium after Arsenal’s Kal Havertz’s penalty was caught by Altay Bayindir in a moment that has now been described as a heroic save.
After much backlash from fans due to the Red Devils’ loss to Tottenham a month ago, the goalkeeper’s performance against Arsenal has redeemed him in the face of the club’s passionate supporters. From preventing a penalty goal during the match time, to a swift save from Arsenal captain, Martin Odegaard in the 72 minutes, Manchester United may have just owed their qualifying performance to the team’s goalkeeper Altay.
The question on everyone’s mind now is; will Altay Bayindir take the spot as the starting goalkeeper or will André Onana regain his spot, as Manchester United defends its grip on the FA Cup?
