There is something exceptional about Omoba Adekunle Kosoko, a.k.a Adekunle Gold, a recipient of the 2015 Afrima Awards for Revelation of Africa; the 2015 Beat of Lagos Award for Best Song; 2015, the Headies Award for Best Alternative Song; the 2016 Nigerian Entertainment Award for Best Song and Best New Act to Watch; the 2017 City People Music Awards for Album of the Year, Collabo of the Year, and Islamic American Relief Agency Award (IARA) for Best African Music Artist. Gold is a Nigerian artist standing head above shoulders with his peers.

For someone whose musical career just started in 2014, it is quite a feat to watch him gather such accolades in the music industry teeming with upcoming stars, accomplished stars and grand patrons of the Nigerian music world. In a world so unforgiving of mediocrity, where the line between failure and success is so thin, it is here that Gold has not only found success but has chosen to thrive.

Born to the Kosoko Royal family in Lagos, Gold built his love for music by listening to legends like Ebenezer Obey and King Sunny Ade. Although a graduate of Arts and Design, Gold knew his heart was in music. In 2014, he released a hit single titled Sade which shot him into the spotlight. Sade was nominated at the 2015 edition of The Headies Award, wining for Best Alternative Song.

His first album, titled Gold, released in 2016, was number 7 on the Billboard World Album chart for the week of August 13, 2016. Hit songs like Sade, Orente, Pick up, and Himself, stayed top of the Nigerian Music Chart for several months. Gold has since moved on to produce two other Albums.

His recent 2018 Album, About 30, is already making waves as several tracks feature popular artists like DYO, SeunKuti, Flavour, Lcgc, and Jacob Banks. With a lot of artistic sounds and creativity, Gold has kept to his promise of richly entertaining his fans for years to come. Gold has remained an extraordinary artist whose meteoric rise to fame cannot solely be placed on talent alone but on hard work as well.
