In a time where contemporary gospel music is taking over the conventional Christian hymns and rewriting how the belief in God is expressed through talent, few artists shine brightly amongst the rising stars and one of such talent is Ada Ogochukwu Ehi (Nee Ndukauba). She left her studies in Chemical and Polymer Engineering at the Lagos State University and started her singing career with the Christ Embassy Choir. Later she moved to the Christ Embassy Presidential Choir from whence she launched her international career.
Inspired by listening to Gospel recordings at the age of 10, she was selected to be a member of the girl’s band of Tosin Jegede, another Nigerian child star. As a member of Christ Embassy Presidential Choir, she travelled to Europe, America and several African countries fulfilling her dreams of singing and winning hearts for Christ through her Contemporary Gospel songs.
Her debut album titled,“Un-denied,” released in November 2009, was followed by other albums like “Lifted”, “So Fly”, and “Future Now” which claimed number one spot on iTunes Nigeria the same day. She has been listed as one of the 100 influential Christian Personalities in Nigeria. She became the recipient of the West African Artist of Year at the Groove Awards. Clinching the prize ahead of other artists like Frank Edwards, Sinach, Joe Praize and the Preachers who are considered giants in the industry was a remarkable feat and helped her rise to prominence in the contemporary gospel music industry.
Married with kids, Ada continues to inspire hope amongst the new generation of Christian musicians who struggle to stay committed to contemporary gospel songs and trying their hands on a bit of secular music.
Her unwavering stand to stay the course and sing for her Creator has pushed her to the forefront of becoming a household name as far as the Contemporary gospel music is concerned. For Ada, nothing beats singing with the Angels.
