Increasingly, celebrities have become outspoken about their sexualities — no easy feat, especially for Black people.
In different parts of the entertainment industry, many Black people are coming out including some famous Black LGBTQ+ Athletes. FunTimes celebrates and recognizes many famous people who are a part of the LGBTQ community from world-famous drag queens to those who identify as pansexual. This couple stars in Netflix’s Styling Hollywood series. They married in 2012 and welcomed a baby via surrogate in May of 2021. Jason is a celebrity stylist who worked with Alist celebrities like Taraji P Henson and Wiz Khalifa. Adair is an interior designer.

After years of speculation about her sexual orientation, rapper Da Brat revealed that she was dating the Kaleidoscope Hair Product CEO and founder in an emotional Instagram post celebrating her 46th birthday in March of 2020. Brat and Jesseca Dupart are now engaged and expecting their first child together. The pair went public with their relationship in 2020 and afterward, starred in the weTV seriesBrat Loves Judy.
Lena Waithe and Alana Mayo
In September 2018, Waithe made history as the first Black woman to win an Emmy for Outstanding Writer for a Comedy Series for her Master of None episode about coming out. The Emmy-winning writer and actress tied the knot with her longtime girlfriend Alana Mayo, in 2019 in a meaningful, under-the-radar San Francisco ceremony.
Monifah Carter and Terez Mychelle
R&B singer Monifah married Terez Mychelle on April 4, 2014. Afterward, Monifah is quoted as saying great things about the relationship. “We are more in love if that is possible,” she explained. “It is about commitment and doing the right thing for now.”
Anthony Wayne and Kendrell Bowman
These thespians have been working in the entertainment world for years. Wayne made his Broadway debut in the 2011 revival of Anything Goes. Meanwhile, Bowman is the creative image consultant and stylist of celebrities like K. Michell and Dawn Richard. The two also worked as the creative director and head costume designer of the off-Broadway musical You Make Me Feel Mighty Real: A Sylvester Concert.
Queen Latifah and Eboni Nichols
While Latifah likes to keep her personal life private, it didn’t escape the world that she secretly got engaged to choreographer and former LA Lakers Girl Eboni Nichols.
