Bright Continent
Anton Crone is a photographer, writer, editor, and eco-blogger who writes the blog Bright Continent on Africa’s rich cultural history. Crone often ventures off the main path to showcase sections of the continent we seldom get to see, from his home Cape Town, to digging into secular music in Mali, to touring Tanzania’s Rubondo Island National Park. His writings are accompanied by stunning photographs from far-flung locations. Crone’s tales and reports go much beyond travel writing; they are incisive, frequently tragic, vast, and brilliant. His blog shines a new light on the continent, its people, and cultures, creating a new narrative that is much needed in the tourist industry. Wending far off the usual path, then returning, always with a modified viewpoint that makes reading his blog a voyage in and of itself.
