As young Black women in the floral industry, motivating and paving a path for other young and upcoming florists was important. They have employed young and passionate people in the business to make them understand the importance of taking ownership of their lives and empowering them with skills that will, in turn, build and uplift the community in which the business operates.

Born in Pasadena and raised between the City of Roses and Los Angeles, Mallory Browne started by buying flowers from Ralphs and Trader Joe’s, watching how-to YouTube videos, and simply creating in her garage. Thus, Mallory with the Flowers was born. She specializes in custom arrangements, hand-tied bouquets, and events. She curates large floral experiences for big brands and community partners, including HBO’s Insecure, Toyota, Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen, and Hank’s Mini Market.

The idea for Roots and Blooms began when owner Ednita Tingle was encouraged to leave corporate finance to follow an obvious passion for flowers.
