It is that time of the year again when Philadelphia transforms into a magical wonderland with twinkling lights, charming shops, and delicious treats. Nothing captures the spirit of the season quite like Philadelphia’s Christmas Village.
Drawing inspiration from centuries-old European Christmas markets, and brought to life by a team from Germany, Philadelphia’s Christmas Village has become a popular holiday destination for families, couples, and holiday gifters alike.
This annual event which takes place at LOVE Park at 1500 JFK Blvd., City Hall’s Courtyard and North Broad sections of the City Hall apron are a must-visit for locals and tourists alike. It runs daily from Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve.
Philadelphia’s Christmas Village offers a unique shopping experience with more than 120 vendors and much more. The streets are lined with rustic wooden cottages trimmed in festive lights and housing vendors of every variety, selling everything from handcrafted ornaments to cozy scarves and artisanal candles.
At the Visitors Center at LOVE Park, you’ll be enchanted by a dazzling display of holiday trees and even have the chance to meet Santa Claus. Just across the street, the City Hall extension of Christmas Village offers even more vendors and a delightful double-decker carousel in its courtyard. And on the north apron of City Hall, families can experience the thrill of the Ferris wheel, the charm of the Kids Train, and other exciting attractions.
Throughout the market, you can find giftable goods from around the world while enjoying events and live entertainment. Whether hunting for the perfect gift or treating yourself, the Christmas Village is a one-stop shop for holiday cheer.
The popular, open-air German-style market is open from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from noon to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, according to organizers. The market is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 28) and from noon to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve (Sunday, December 24).

The Festival of Trees: In the “flying saucer” building at the southwest corner of LOVE Park, you’ll find a group of beautifully decorated trees sponsored by local companies and organizations and designed by professional designers. Added last year, the second annual ‘Festival of Trees’ fundraiser at the LOVE Park Welcome Center promises to be even more magical, with beautifully decorated trees and holiday cheer. For a small donation, you’ll get a snowflake token that you can use to vote for your favorite tree. All the proceeds benefit the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
